Who is responsible
HuisWeter is a service of UsesvIT, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 91168201. UsesvIT is responsible for the processing of the personal data described on this page. For privacy questions you can reach us through the form on the Contact page.
What we do and do not keep
- No account. You do not have to sign up for anything.
- Which pages you view. Without your consent we do not keep track of which pages or addresses you view, except briefly in the server logs (see below). If you consent to Google Analytics, Google sees which pages you visit, including the pages of homes with their address (see Google Analytics).
- Comparing stores nothing. When you put two addresses side by side, they are not saved, not logged and not put in a cache tied to you or to the pair of addresses.
- Your current address stays in your browser. If you set an address as your current address, it is stored only in your own browser's local storage (localStorage), as is whether comparing is switched on. It is not sent to us. Clear the site's data in your browser and it is gone.
- No advertising. We show no advertisements and share nothing with advertisers.
Cookies
NEXT_LOCALEremembers whether you read the site in Dutch or English. It is needed to show the site in your language and is not used to follow you._gaand_ga_…are Google Analytics' cookies. They are only set if you consent, and expire after 13 months.
We keep your choice about Google Analytics in your browser's local storage, so we do not ask again on every visit. After a year we ask again.
Google Analytics
With your consent we use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive and which parts work. Google then receives the address (URL) and title of every page you view, so for a home report also the address of that home, the page you came from, your browser and device, and your IP address, which Google uses to determine your approximate location.
- Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time through Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; Google Analytics' cookies are then deleted straight away.
- Settings: Google signals and ad personalisation are off, we do not share the data with other Google services, and Google Analytics keeps the data for 2 months.
- Who: Google Ireland Limited processes the data for us. Data may end up in the United States in the process; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Without consent Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
The contact form
When you send us a message, we keep what you fill in: your email address, your name if you give it, the topic, the address or page it is about and your message. We use these details only to read and answer your message; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling questions and reports. We do not store an IP address with your message. To prevent abuse, we briefly count how many messages come from one connection, using a code that cannot be traced back and expires after an hour. Messages are deleted automatically 12 months after they arrive.
Photos, maps and other services
When pages are shown, your browser itself connects to a few other parties, which may receive technical data such as your IP address in the process:
- PDOK (Kadaster) for the map backgrounds.
- Funda for the photo of a home that is for sale. We do not store those photos ourselves.
- Wikimedia Commons for photos of municipalities, districts and neighbourhoods.
Fonts are served by our own server, not by an external service.
What the server logs
The website runs on a server of Contabo GmbH in Munich, Germany. For every request the web server records technical data: the time, the page requested, your browser and your IP address. We use it only to secure the site and to track down faults, and it is deleted after 14 days.
Your rights
You have the right to ask which data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to its use. Send a message through the Contact page; we answer within a month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If we change this statement, the new version will be on this page.
